Introduction
‘Surrender yourself to the spellbinding ways of #serendipity!’ A term suitably coined by Dia Mirza at the Kaafir Conversations that was hosted by team Kaafir at the Taj Lands End Bandra.
At the event, #serendipity simply swept the cast and crew off their feet, in order to concoct another enthralling thriller based on true life events. “Serendipity was an experience that got the team together one by one, and then the magic happened, with the birth of Kaafir.”
It is interesting to learn that even as the conversations were taking place there were a number of questions and instances that popped up, paving the way to the magical experience. Dia Mirza strongly believes, “The universe will certainly align one to what they truly believe in.”
At the event
The conversation was hosted by the lead protagonists Dia Mirza and Mohit Raina. Director Sonam Nair, and producer Siddharth Malhotra were also around to drop a few lines.

Some other prolific writers included Bhavani Iyer (The screenplay writer) Swanand K, Ananya Johar, Priya Malik, and the little child artist who is all set to steal a number of hearts with her million dollar smile.
The writers were happy to share anecdotes surrounding the simple instances concerning humanity and their experiences with the same.
Plot thickens
Country borders are just lines that demarcate cultures, traditions, values and beliefs. But it cannot deny a human of extending the simple emotion and expression of humanity.
Lines are not devised to delineate a virtue that has been instilled in each one of us since our very inception. But at the rate at which the world is turning, the term and expression of humanity are being alienated.
Kaafir circumvents around the story of humanity. It is about a simple problem that could arise between any revolting nations if one of their nationals happens to cross borders by accident.
But there are so many questions that reduce the victim’s life to nothingness, as the person is severed of any communication to their home country. Some of them are convicted for a lifetime till death frees them.
The lead protagonist Dia Mirza is sucked into a similar vortex. She braves a number of unwarranted questions as put forth by the Indian authorities. Yet, there is an Indian lawyer who comes to her rescue.
What is the reason, and why does Mohit Raina comes around to rescue Dia Mirza? Is she really a ‘Pakistani’ militant? Who is the child? There are a number of questions that go unanswered. Reality unfolds June 15, 2019, as the 8-part series starts streaming live on ZEE5.
The odds
Team Kaafir has braved a number of odds, since its inception. Siddharth Malhotra had gone around narrating the storyline to a number of people, but only found the right people a year or two back. Even as the team was set to shoot, they had to brave odds of cross-firing from across the border.
“We did have to turn around our shoot schedule, and even change the location at the last minute. The team was shooting at sub-zero temperatures and has delivered nothing less than stellar on-screen production. The 6-year-old child artist has played an imperative role, and has soundly carried the entire plot on her shoulders.

The trailers are compelling, and not meant for the faint-hearted. Kaafir is a must-watch for all those who surrender to #serendipity. That is where the magic begins, a magic that is bewitching yet transports you to your earnest beliefs.
