Diljit Dosanjh-starrer Satluj, directed by Honey Trehan, is undoubtedly one of the most controversial films of the year. The movie premiered on Zee5 on July 3, 2026, but was removed from the OTT platform within two days. Now, on Friday, Honey took to Instagram to share a note in which he revealed that gullaks (piggy banks) are being kept at Gurudwaras in India as well as overseas.
In his note, he first thanked everyone for showering so much love and blessings on Satluj. Honey wrote that even though the film was streamed for just two days, they got the opportunity to remember and honour the life of Martyr Bhai Jaswant Singh Khalra ji.
The filmmaker further revealed how he and Diljit have received messages, DMs on Instagram, and calls from people offering to help them recover their losses. He further wrote, "We even got to know there are gullaks kept in Gurudwaras where well-wishers are trying to help my producers to recover the losses of 'Satluj'. This is happening in India as well as abroad. We thank you deeply for this gesture. It is truly special and we respect your emotions. Having said that, your love and support is more than enough, and with all due respect we cannot accept any money, gifts or donations for our film (sic)."
Clarifies Donation Stand
Honey wrote that the film's team and producers have graciously accepted Satluj into their legacy despite their losses. The filmmaker clarified that any money collected in the name of Satluj or in the name of any service or donation has nothing to do with the film.
He concluded, "Let's help each other with kindness and courage and love so we all can come together to 'challenge the darkness' when it matters. Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh (sic)."
Satluj Sontroversy
Satluj was removed by Zee5 after being streamed for two days. Reportedly, the government blocked the film, citing national security and public order concerns under Section 69A of the IT Act, noting that the uncut film bypassed the censor board certification.
