She was best known for the Marathi TV show Tharala Tar Mag and had reportedly been undergoing treatment for several days while battling a prolonged illness. Her funeral took place today, August 17, at 11 a.m. at Vaikunth Crematorium in Pune, with MNS Chief Raj Thackeray among those paying their last respects.

After the news of Jyoti’s mother’s passing broke, her daughter shared a statement on her social media handle in Marathi, which read, "It is with deep sorrow that I share the news that our mother, the esteemed and beloved actress Mrs. Jyoti Chandekar Pandit, who lived life on her own terms and always smiled wholeheartedly, passed away today, 16th August, at the age of 69 after a brief illness."
