It all started after a meme page on Instagram shared Kartik's rugged and bearded look from his upcoming film, which was earlier believed to be Aashiqui 3. Amid the success of Aneet Padda and Ahaan Panday's Saiyaara, the meme page compared the film with Kartik's yet-untitled film.
The text on the post read, "Bhai pura time bhikhari look mai hype banata reh gaya. Udhar Saiyaara ne baazi maar li (Bro kept creating hype the whole time with a beggar look, while Saiyaara ended up stealing the show)."
