One of the biggest filmmakers of the Tamil film industry, Mysskin, made a shocking revelation recently after he said that he was threatened and forced to sell the television rights of his hit film, Onaayum Aattukkuttiyum, for Rs 75 lakh.
During the trailer launch of Bad Girl, Mysskin revealed that 10 days after the release of his 2013 thriller Onaayum Aattukkuttiyum in theatres, some people approached him to buy the television rights of the film. "At that point, a big director close to me told me that he would get me a huge sum of money for that film and took me to a place," he said.
Recalling the ordeal, he revealed, "We went into a large room. There were 20 people in that room. ‘Give the television rights of this film to us for 75 lakhs,’ they said. I told them, ‘Sir, I have made this film with great difficulty. This is a good film. Please give me at least Rs 2 crore for its television rights.' They kept saying they wouldn’t be able to give me that money."
"It was then that I realised that they had 20 gundas, who threatened me and made me sign (the deal). They gave me Rs 75 lakhs," he added.
Mysskin went on to say that he tore the cheque in despair and promised that he will make a comeback with his hardwork.
While he did not take names, he shared that one of the men who betrayed him back then is a big director in the film industry. He stated that the film went on to be a hit on television as well and it has been aired on that channel for 80 times now.
