Former President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, posted a list of his favourite movies of 2024 as a recommendation of cinema lovers and Payal Kapadia's Golden Globe-nominated All We Imagine As Light topped his annual recommendation list.

Taking to his official X handle, Obama wrote, "Here are a few movies I'd recommend checking out this year." The full list includes films like All We Imagine As Light, Conclave, The Piano Lesson, The Promised Land, Dune Part Two, Anora, Didi, Sugarcane, The Complete Unknown and The Seed of the Sacred Fig.

On Saturday, director Payal and the film's lead actress Divya Prabha took to their Instagram accounts to react to All We Imagine As Light topping the list of Obama's favourite films.

They wrote, "Honored to see our film @allweimagineaslightfilm on @barackobama ‘s favorite movies of 2024 ! Soooo Grateful for the love and recognition. #SurrealMoments #CinemaMagic."

Starring Kani Kusruti, and Chhaya Kadam, along with Divya Prabha, All We Imagine As Light follows the lives of three women working at a hospital in Mumbai. The film captures their deep bond as they navigate loneliness and face challenges in the bustling city. The story explores themes of friendship, resilience, and connection.

It follows Prabha's character, who receives an unexpected gift from her estranged husband, and Anu, her young roommate seeking intimacy with her boyfriend.

All We Imagine As Light made history by premiering at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, becoming the first Indian film since 1994 to compete in the main competition and winning the prestigious Grand Prix. It also won Best International at the New York Film Critics Circle and the Best International Feature trophy at the reputed Gotham Awards 2024. The film received two nominations at the 82nd annual Golden Globe Awards.
