Steamy & serious – richa does both!

Richa Chadda, the multi-talented actress has been featured on the cover of a men’s magazine for the May edition and looks rather stunning. Watching her steam up the cover, it becomes clear that Richa is embracing her voluptuous side with a vengeance. She will be seen as a glamorous cabaret dancer in fishnet stockings, leather bodices, strappy-tight corsets and a bedsheet in her film CABARET. Talking about her different avatar in the film, a far cry from the roles she has essayed in GANGS OF WASSEYPUR and MASAAAN, she avers, “CABARET is my first typical commercial outing and I did it for the love of song and dance and as an experiment. I am nervous about it, in a good way.”’

Richa reveals that she feels lucky to have the opportunity to play diverse roles. Her upcoming film SARBJIT, she feels, gave her the chance to perform a challenging character in film that deals with a sensitive subject. She essays the role of the wife of Sarabjit Singh, an Indian farmer who was convicted of charges of terrorism and spying in Pakistan and was sentenced to death. Richa is clearly having the best of both worlds!

That said, she isn’t exactly flaunting her look in CABARET either. While she is working really hard to impress her audience with her brand new avatar, she is making sure she is doing equal justice to the film makers for all the hard work that has gone into the film. She plays a girl on the run in CABARET and it is important for the team to keep the role and look as much a secret.

While we hear a lot about pictures getting leaked from the sets, the artistes are trying to ensure this doesn’t happen with them. While Richa’s look has been revealed so far, there are several important looks from the film which were needed to be kept a secret. As Richa didn’t want her audience to guess about her role and jump to conclusions, she made a firm decision – she made sure there were no cell phones used on the set while they were shooting. She went so far as to institute a ban on the sets, where she asked everybody to not use cell phones on the set while shooting. Of course they all obeyed – you don’t mess with the gutsy Ms Chadda!
