The much-awaited glimpse of Mahakali, featuring Akshaye Khanna as Shukracharya and Sriya Reddy as Maa Kali, was released on Monday. It is the second film in the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU) after Hanu-Man (2024), and everyone is excited about the movie, which is directed by Puja Aparna Kolluru.
The teaser introduces the character of Shukracharya, played by Akshaye, and we also get a small but strong glimpse of Sriya Reddy as Maa Kali. Watch the promo below...

Mahakali Release Date
Mahakali is slated to release on January 8, 2027. Interestingly, Hanu-Man was also released in January 2024.
Hanu-Man Box Office Collection
Hanu-Man received a pan-India release and performed very well at the box office. The movie minted Rs. 201.91 crore net in India. While the major collection came from the original Telugu version, the Hindi-dubbed version also performed well and went on to earn Rs. 52.29 crore net in India.
Initially, the Hindi version got a low response at the box office, but later word of mouth helped the film to get a good boost at the box office.
Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe
Varma, who directed Hanu-Man, is the writer and producer of Mahakali. The filmmaker has planned multiple movies under PVCU. After Mahakali, we will get to watch Jai Hanuman, which is directed by Varma and stars Rishab Shetty in the lead role.
