Bollywood actor Aadar Jain got married to childhood bestfriend Alekha Advani in a traditional ceremony in Mumbai on February 21, but it made headlines for all reasons after he was heard saying in a video that he did "timepass" for four years. Netizens slammed him for disrespecting his four-year-long relationship with ex-girlfriend Tara Sutaria, but Aadar has now stated that his comment was misconstrued.
In an interview with ETimes, Aadar said that he did not say four years, but 20 years to begin with. "There are so many false narratives, false assumptions, but no fact checkers. Unfortunately, what happens is when people make up stories and say certain things, the people who get affected are the people involved and their families."
"In this scenario from day one, there's been so many things written. Out of respect, everyone has been silent about it. People then take liberty to say what they want. It's unfair for her (Alekha) and her family, me and my family, her (Tara) and her family. Obviously, there's no truth to any of it," he added.
He went on to say, "The fact is Alekha is one of my oldest friends in life. I'm her oldest friend. Whatever's been written, there is no truth behind any of it. The families we come from, we've been taught to respect everyone from all walks of life... They misconstrued what I said and took 10 seconds of it. And then people form their own opinions about it. People have made it out to be something else and directed towards someone else. My parents always taught me to respect my past, my present and now my future. I would not think of anyone else when I'm getting married."
Alekha too reacted to the chatter that she was the reason behind Aadar and Tara's breakup. "I've lived next to this guy for my whole life. We've grown up together. We've been in each other's friends and lives and circles for how many ever years and literally seen each other through everything. Suddenly it became like this whole other narrative and a whole other thing which was not really fair or nice. Because even she (Tara) knows that we (Aadar and I) have been friends for so long. This whole story is baseless," she said.
For those unversed, Aadar and Tara dated for four years before parting ways in 2023. During the course of their relationship, Alekha was often seen hanging out with the duo, and had grown close to Tara too. Months after their breakup, Aadar announced his engagement with Alekha in 2024, and they got married in 2025.
