Post its star studded launch and amazing response from across the board, Shirish Kunder’s KRITI has been in the news for the allegation of plagiarism by Aneel Neupane’s film titled BOB. But the director Shirish Kunder and makers have denied all such allegations and now in turn filed a legal notice against the latter for laying false and defamatory allegations on him.
A source close to the director and makers of KRITI also revealed that even though the film released recently, the concept was discussed with the cast and crew a year ago, they were given the script and their dates locked six months prior to the shoot which happened in February 2016. In a professional project such as this, even the launch event was planned three months in advance.
Director Shirish Kunder has previously been a part of many well-known Bollywood films. With KRITI, Shirish made his debut in the short feature film industry and has garnered a lot of appreciation from the industry, critics and the audiences. The film is a psychological thriller and stars Manoj Bajpayee, Radhika Apte and Neha Sharma in pivotal roles.
No stranger to controversy, Shirish had invariably garnered attention for all the wrong reasons. In 2012 his clash with actor-producer Shah Rukh Khan had resulted in blows at Sanjay Dutt’s party at a popular nightclub in Juhu, which was attended by A-listers. After being stalked by Kunder right through the party, as Shah Rukh was about to leave, he lost his cool and allegedly pinned Shirish onto a sofa and slapped him.
Despite Shirish being the husband of SRK’s close friend, Farah Khan, theirequation was at an all-time low after Kunder had criticised SRK’s recent film RA ONE on a microblogging site. He had posted an insulting, ‘I just heard a Rs150 crore firework fizzle’ remark online.Khan had refused to acknowledge Kunder at the party…and the explosion was just waiting to happen!
Farah Khan, always loyally standing by her husband, has herself revealed in the past that Shirish is very dominating.
Shirish’s equation with his JOKER star, Akshay Kumar were also broken, as it was revealed that they were not on talking terms and maintained a distance soon after the film shooting finished. There were creative differences between the two, which resulted in a face-off. Apparently, Akshay had felt cheated that whatever was promised to him was never delivered. In spite of all this, he completed the film and then decided to distance himself.
After JAAN-E-MAAN flopped, he still worked with a script that was written by Shirish and inspite of the disastrous result of the film, he went ahead and did JOKER. Akki was also promised that the film would be shot in 3D, which didn’t happen, and he was also dissatisfied with the music, which included the song, “I want fakt you…’, which he had been assured would be changed to ‘Just you…’.
Shirish has meanwhile made a mark with his biting wit on Twitter and is not afraid to speak his mind and step on toes. Of course he stays off the toes of the likes of SRK – that must be the wife’s diktat!
