Actor and model Rohullah Mehdi, who appeared alongside Shahid Kapoor in Deva, has been arrested by the Kashimira Police Crime Branch in connection with an alleged drug case in Mumbai. Police reportedly seized 28 grams of MD drugs, valued at around Rs 5.60 lakh, during the operation.

According to a report in NDTV, Mehdi has been named as the main accused in the case. The investigation reportedly began after police received information about an alleged narcotics network operating through social media platforms such as Snapchat and WhatsApp.

How did the police arrest Rohullah Mehdi?

Acting on the tip-off, the police reportedly planned a trap using a decoy customer. According to the investigation, a man identified as Kasif was called near Thakur Mall in the Dahisar Check Naka area to allegedly deliver 28 grams of MD.

Police arrested Kasif during the alleged drug deal. During questioning, he reportedly named Rohullah Mehdi, following which the Crime Branch launched further action.

The police subsequently arrested Mehdi outside a studio in Malad, where he was shooting at the time.

Rohullah Mehdi worked with Shahid Kapoor in Deva

According to the police, Mehdi is originally from Budgam district in Jammu and Kashmir and had been living in Goregaon, Mumbai. He worked in films and web series and appeared with Shahid Kapoor in Deva.

Following his arrest, Mehdi was produced before a court, which sent him to five days of police custody.

Police probe alleged drug network

The investigation is now focused on tracing the alleged drug network and determining whether Mehdi supplied drugs to other people. Police are also reportedly examining whether anyone else, including individuals from the film industry, could be connected to the case.

According to reports, the operation was conducted by the Kashimira Police team under the supervision of DCP Zone-1 Rahul Chavan. Police have said that the investigation is still underway and that more names could emerge as the probe progresses.
