Global pop sensation Taylor Swift finally announced her much-awaited album and revealed that is titled 'The Life of a Showgirl'. The announcement came hours after she posted a countdown timer on her website, which left fans confused. The countdown ran out on August 12, at 12:12 am, unveiling her new album announcement.
Swift also revealed the album title on her boyfriend Travis Kelce's podcast 'New Height Show' on Tuesday. Earlier, Kelce had revealed on Instagram that the Love Story singer would be appearing as a guest on his podcast, hosted alongside his brother Jason.
Soon after the album announcement, billboards popped up across New York City with a code leading to a playlist on Spotify titled 'And, baby, that's show business for you.'
Swift's last album, The Tortured Poets Department, released over a year ago, in April 2024. She later expanded it to a double album titled, The Anthology. The Life Of A Showgirl marks the 12th album in the singer's career.
Back in May, Swift announced that she had purchased the rights to her recordings that were initially released through Big Machine Records. She retained ownership from Shamrock Capital for a rumoured nine-figure sum, revealing that she will be reissuing her old albums that were first sold by Big Machine against her wishes in 2019.
"To say this is my greatest dream come true is actually being pretty reserved about it. All I've ever wanted was the opportunity to work hard enough to be able to one day purchase my music outright with no strings attached, no partnership, with full autonomy," she had said.
Meanwhile, Swift was also in news recently after she scripted history after Madame Tussauds unveiled its biggest figure launch to date, creating not one, but 13 brand new Taylor Swift wax figures. The figures, launching in 13 cities across four continents, have been inspired by Taylor Swift's outfit from her record-breaking The Eras Tour.
