YouTuber and entrepreneur Ranveer Allahbadia has moved the Supreme Court seeking protection against multiple FIRs filed against him over his controversial remarks on the reality show India's Got Latent.

The complaints, lodged across different states, accuse him of making distasteful and derogatory comments that have sparked public outrage.

Ranveer reportedly approached the apex court to club multiple FIRs lodged against him across India. However, the SC denied urgent hearing.

According to ANI, advocate Abhinav Chandrachud mentioned the matter before the SC on Friday (February 14) stating that multiple FIRs are registered against him and the Assam Police have summoned him for today. Supreme Court said that the date has already been given in the case.

All you need to know about the controversy

It all began after Ranveer appeared as a guest in the latest episode of India's Got Latent, which is hosted by Samay Raina. During the episode, Ranveer asked a contestant, "Would you rather watch your parents have sex for the rest of your life - or would you join in once and stop it forever?"

This did not go down well with netizens, who slammed the show and the content creators for promoting vulgarity online. Multiple complaints were also filed against Ranveer, Samay and others.

Post the backlash, Ranveer issued an apology, stating that there was a "lapse in judgement" on his part as comedy is not his forte.

Samay, on the other hand, announced that he had deleted all India's Got Latent videos from his YouTube channel.
