Almost 12 years after his film Ramaiya Vastavaiya became a hit at the box office, actor Girish Kumar was spotted in Mumbai on Thursday, looking unrecognisable. As his video went viral, fans became nostalgic and stated how the actor vanished after giving one big hit.
Girish was spotted in the city sporting a casual avatar. He wore a basic white t-shirt and jeans, and was all smiles as the paparazzi greeted him. He even stopped and posed for the cameras on the behest of the paps, before quickly walking away from the spot.
As the video surfaced online, netizens were transported back to 2013, when the actor marked his debut with the romcom Ramaiya Vastavaiya, which became a rage amongst the youth. The film also starred Shruti Haasan, Sonu Sood, Randhir Kapoor, Poonam Dhillon, the late Vinod Khanna, and others in key roles.
"Bro gave one hit and disappeared (sic)," a user commented on Instagram, while another wrote, "He made over childhood so beautiful and memorable (sic)."
While the film earned Rs 38 crore in theatres upon its release, it gained popularity after it began airing on television. Over the years, Ramaiya Vastavaiya has amassed a loyal fanbase, and ardent fans don't mind watching the film every time it airs on the small screen.
The film also featured the chartbuster Atif Aslam song, Jeena Laga Hoon.
As for Girish, who is the nephew of veteran filmmaker Ramesh Taurani, he last starred in the 2016 film, Loveshhuda, which was also his second film post Ramaiya Vastavaiyaa. He has been on an acting hiatus since then.
