Superstar Rajinikanth, who returned to the big screen this weekend with Coolie, expressed gratitude after completing 50 years in Indian cinema. On Friday (August 15), he shared, "My heartfelt thanks go to Tamil Nadu leaders and friends in politics who complimented me on my 50-year journey." He added, "I also express my heartfelt thanks to my fans, who are the gods who keep me alive."

Superstar Rajinikanth, who returned to the big screen this weekend with Lokesh Kanagaraj's Coolie, penned a heartfelt note to his fans, expressing gratitude to political leaders, colleagues, and well-wishers after recently completing 50 years in Indian cinema on Thursday. In his statement, he called his fans the 'Gods' who keep him alive, reflecting on his recent milestone.

On Friday (August 15), the actor extended Independence Day wishes and shared an official statement, that read, "My heartfelt thanks go to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Leader of the Opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami, BJP leader Nainar Nagendiran, my friend Annamalai, madam Sasikala, Dhinakaran, madam Premalatha, and to other friends in politics who complimented me on my 50-year journey in the film industry."

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie also starred Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Sathyaraj and a cameo from Aamir Khan.

The high-octane action drama earned approximately Rs 65 crore net across all languages on its first day (early estimates) - the highest day-one figure for any Indian film in recent months.

According to Sacnilk, the film's Tamil version witnessed a phenomenal turnout, registering an overall 86.99 per cent occupancy on Thursday, (August 14). The trend remained consistently high throughout the day.
