Prithviraj Sukumaran Feels Ibrahim Ali Khan's Debut Should Have Been Sarzameen, Not Nadaaniyan: 'He Has Put Humongous Amount Of Work'

Prithviraj Sukumaran revealed that Ibrahim Ali Khan shot for Sarzameen before Nadaaniyan, but delays pushed its release. "If this had indeed been his first film, it would have been a more interesting debut," he said. Sarzameen, also starring Kajol, premiered today on OTT and marks Saif Ali Khan’s son’s second film after the critically panned Nadaaniyan.

Saif Ali Khan's son Ibrahim Ali Khan's film Sarzameen premiered today on OTT, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Kajol. This marks his second film after Nadaaniyan, which featured Khushi Kapoor in the lead. However, Khan's co-star Prithviraj believes Sarzameen should have been his debut film instead of Nadaaniyan, which had drawn massive backlash.

Speaking to Bollywood Bubble, Prithviraj shared that Ibrahim had actually shot for Sarzameen before Nadaaniyan. However, due to several delays, the film's release was pushed. This was the first time Ibrahim had faced the camera on a film set, and being part of the project, Prithviraj witnessed his journey leading up to the shoot. The actor further shared that Khan put in a 'humongous' amount of effort into the role.

"I really like him in this film. And I say this very objectively, not because I am here to promote Sarzameen, but I really like Ibrahim in this film," he added.

Prithviraj said that when he first read the script, Ibrahim and Kajol had not yet been finalised for the film.

He added, "When Karan told me we are thinking of Ibrahim for this role, what interested me most was what an unlikely debut it was for someone like Ibrahim Ali Khan can make. You will know why when you see the film. But if this had indeed been his first film, it would have been more of interesting debut."

Prithviraj shared the advice he gave to Ibrahim on the last day of the shoot and told him how proud he was of the work he had done on Sarzameen. He also told Khan that his journey wouldn’t get any easier from here on—it would be just as tough as it has always been.

"At any point, if you think things are getting easier, you’re doing something wrong. So, the idea remains that you put in the same amount of work for every one of your films.’ And he understands that he might be from a very privileged background. But he understands how valuable this opportunity is," concluded the actor.
