Bigg Boss OTT 3 contestant and YouTuber Armaan Malik, along with his wives Payal Malik and Kritika Malik, has been summoned by a Patiala district court in connection with two separate legal cases. According to media reports, the court has directed all three to appear on September 2.
A report in Live Hindustan stated that the summons stems from a petition filed by Davinder Rajput, who alleges that Malik is married not just to two women, but to four, in violation of the Hindu Marriage Act. The Act allows only one marriage at a time for individuals practising Hinduism, and multiple marriages under it are considered illegal.
The petition further accuses Armaan and Payal of hurting religious sentiments. It claims that Payal dressed as Hindu Goddess Kali in a video posted on Instagram, which triggered public outrage.
The complainant argues that the act insulted religious beliefs and constitutes a punishable offence under Indian law.
Following the backlash, in July 2025, Armaan and Payal made a series of public gestures seeking forgiveness. On July 22, they visited the Kali Mata Temple in Patiala, where they prayed and apologised. The next day, the couple went to another Kali temple in Kharar, Mohali, where Payal reportedly undertook a seven-day religious penance. This involved cleaning the temple premises and performing rituals.
Reportedly, their efforts continued with a visit to Haridwar, where they met Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Kailashanand Giri of the Niranjani Akhara to seek his blessings and forgiveness.
The controversy began after Payal's portrayal of Goddess Mahakali, featuring religious symbols like a Trishul and crown, was deemed inappropriate by many viewers online.
