Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh has been facing backlash for collaborating with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in his recently released Punjabi film Sardaar Ji 3. Although the film was shot well before the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, Diljit's continued promotions, such as sharing the trailer and other content, have sparked outrage online.

Now, veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah has come out in support of Diljit, stating that he 'firmly' stands with the Lover singer. On Monday (June 30) the actor wrote on his Facebook handle, "I STAND FIRMLY WITH DILJIT. The dirty tricks deptt of the Jumla Party has been awaiting a chance to attack him. They think they’ve got it at last. He was not responsible for the casting of the film; the director was. But no one knows who he is, whereas Diljit is known the world over, and he agreed to the cast because his mind is not poisoned."

He added, "What these goons want is to put an end to personal interaction between the people of India and Pakistan. I have close relatives and some dear friends there, and no one can stop me from meeting them or sending them love whenever I feel like it. And my response to those who will say, 'Go to Pakistan', is 'GO TO KAILASA'"
Sardaar Ji 3 box office
While Dosanjh's latest film, Sardaar Ji 3, has not even been released in India, it has emerged to be the highest grossing Indian film in Pakistan.
According to reports, Sardaar Ji 3 earned Rs 3 crore in Pakistan on its first day alone, making it the biggest opener for an Indian film in Pakistan. It shattered the record that was previously held by Salman Khan's 2016 film, Sultan.
Naseeruddin is set to collaborate with Diljit in Imitiaz Ali's untitled film, which also stars Vedang Raina and Sharvari in the lead.
