Stand-up comedian and Bigg Boss 17 winner Munawar Faruqui is currently seen on a new show, Hafta Vasooli, which recently premiered on JioHotstar. The show is a satirical newsroom comedy that provides an entertaining take on trending political and cultural events. However, the show has now landed in trouble after a complaint was filed, alleging that it hurts religious sentiments and promotes vulgarity. A ban has also been demanded.

The complaint has been filed by advocate Amita Sachdeva, requesting an FIR under BNS Sections 196, 299, and 353, along with the IT Act and other relevant sections for "insulting multiple religions," "violating cultural values," and "polluting young minds & society."

Earlier, the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti demanded a ban on Hafta Vasooli. In a tweet on X, they wrote, "We demand an immediate ban on #HaftaVasooli airing on Jio Hotstar! In this show @munawar uses foul language, which is unacceptable for public viewing. It sinks moral values. Streaming platforms must act responsibly! @JioHotstar @MIB_India #JioHotstar_Ban_HaftaVasooli @UdayMahurkar @SachdevaAmita."

The first episode of Hafta Vasooli aired on February 14, featuring Sharib Hashmi and Vivian Dsena as guests. While the second episode starred Saqib Saleem.

The ban comes amid Samay Raina's India's Got Latent controversy. It all started after Ranveer Allahbadia aka BeerBiceps, who featured as a guest, asked a contestant during a segment, "Would you rather watch your parents have sex for the rest of your life, or would you join in once and stop it forever?"

His comment sparked outrage, leading to multiple FIRs against him for his crass statement, with the matter reaching the Supreme Court of India and also the Parliament. Samay eventually deleted all the show episodes from YouTube

Meanwhile, in 2021, Munawar and four other stand-up comedians were arrested on January 2 for allegedly hurting religious sentiments and violating COVID-19 protocols. He was granted bail after spending 35 days in jail.
