Mumbai: The Khar police registered an FIR against Bollywood actor Sharad Kapoor, 48, for allegedly attempting to sexually harass a 32-year-old woman. The woman alleged that the actor invited her to his house under the pretext of discussing professional work but attempted to sexually assault her. The case was filed on November 27. She filed a complaint with the Khar police, prompting the authorities to register a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita on the same day and initiate an investigation.

The victim stated that she first came in contact with Sharad Kapoor through Facebook, where they began interacting. The two later connected via video calls, during which Sharad expressed his interest in meeting her to discuss a shooting project. He then shared his location and asked her to visit his office in Khar. However, upon arrival, she discovered it was not an office but his residence.
The woman alleged that upon reaching Sharad's house, located on the third floor of a building in Khar, he moved from the kitchen to the bedroom and later called her to join him there. When she reached the bedroom door, she saw Sharad sitting unclothed. Shocked, she asked him to dress and discuss matters appropriately.
Further she alleges that he then attempted to hug her inappropriately, holding her from behind. She managed to push him away and flee from the scene.
Khar Police Registers Case Against Actor Sharad Kapoor
The complainant, who is also an actor and producer, subsequently approached the police. Khar police registered an FIR against Sharad Kapoor under section 74(Assault or use of criminal force against a woman), 75(sexual Harassment) and 79(insult the modesty of any woman) of Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita.

Actor Sharad Kapoor spoke with FPJ and stated, "I did not know when the case was filed against me. I had just returned from New York. The police contacted me, but right now, I am in Kolkata. The incident did not occur; how can I take anyone's name forcefully?"
