A show of Vicky Kaushal's latest release Chhaava was disrupted at a theatre in South Mumbai's Lower Parel on Wednesday after the screen malfunctioned and stopped working, leaving the audience furious. Chaos ensued as the theatre management refused a refund, but the issue was resolved after Shiv Sena UBT's intervention.

The incident took place at PVR Cinemas in Lower Parel on Wednesday when movie-lovers visited the theatre in large numbers to watch Chhaava as it was also a public holiday on the occasion of Shiv Jayanti. According to reports, one of the screens at the theatre malfunctioned, disrupting the show, and leaving the audience furious.

When they raised the issue and demanded a refund, the theatre management denied their request, resulting into major chaos at the cinema hall which went on for nearly five hours.

The issue was eventually resolved after Shiv Sena UBT members intervened and confronted the theatre management. Shiv Sena UBT MLA Sunil Shinde reached PVR upon getting a tip off about the incident and asked the management to compensate as it was their fault that the screen malfunctioned.

Following the strong stance by the party workers, the theatre management agreed to their demands, and as compensation, promised to give a free ticket for any one show within a week, as well as refund four times the ticket amount as a token of apology.

Meanwhile, Chhaava saw a massive jump in its box office numbers on Wednesday as it raked in Rs 32 crore, thanks to the Shiv Jayanti holiday. The film's total collection has now surged to Rs 197 crore, and it is easily set to breach the Rs 200 crore mark on Thursday.

Chhaava stars Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, Rashmika Mandanna as his wife, Yesubai Bhosale, and Akshaye Khanna as Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.
