Due to the impact of MeToo movement, Union Minister MJ Akbar has recently resigned from his designation. Apparently, MJ Akbar has been accused of allegedly harassing a handful of women journalists. But now it seems like Mini Mathur and author Tavleen Singh have taken the matter out in the open on social media.

Post Akbar’s resignation, renowned author and columnist, Tavleen Singh expressed her sympathy towards MJ Akbar for being known as a sexual predator in the country now. Tavleen wrote, “By the standards of MeToo we will have to stop reading Hemingway, Ghalib, Faiz and Manto. MJ Akbar is flawed. But should we remember him as a sexual predator or an editor with an immense contribution to journalism.”

This tweet didn’t go well with popular TV host, Mini Mathur as she lashed out at Tavleen. Mini replied on Tavleen’s tweet by writing, “Oh my dear god. STOP with your defence for these sexual predators please.”

Later, Tavleen justified her statement to Mini by tweeting, “Oh my dear God to you too. Nobody is defending sexual predators. Just not supporting MeToo and never will.”

For those who are uninitiated, MJ Akbar was accused of sexually assaulting several women, when he was working as a journalist. At least five women accused Akbar of sexually harassing them when he was a newspaper editor. Before turning to full-time politician, Akbar was associated with many renowned media houses.
