Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan's 2024 action thriller film Marco, considered one of the most violent Indian films ever made, stirred debate over its brutal portrayal. While fans had been eagerly awaiting a sequel, the actor has now confirmed that there will be no part 2, citing 'too much negativity' surrounding the project.

On Saturday, Unni Mukundan shared a video showcasing his weight loss transformation. In the comments, a fan asked when Marco 2 would be released. Responding to the fan, the 37-year-old actor said, "Bro, apologies but I have dropped plans to continue the Marco series. Too much negativity around the project. I’ll try my best to bring something bigger and better than Marco. Thanks for all the love and positivity. Cheers."

While another fan commented, "Any chance for part 2?" To this, the actor responded, "Absolutely no chance."

Earlier, reacting to the criticism, Unni told Galatta Plus. "Marco doesn’t even show ten per cent of the violence present in our society. Above all, survival is our ultimate goal. I’m not saying it is an excuse to show violence on screen, but the fact remains that violence exists in our society."

The actor previously revealed that the 'blood' seen in Marco was actually a sugary chemical mix — and by the time filming wrapped, they had used nearly 300 litres of it.

"It was a chemical with a lot of sugar in it. So, if you are diabetic, you should not be a part of a film with such bloodshed. It's too sweet,” he told India Today.

The cast of Marco included Siddique, Jagadish, Kabir Duhan Singh, Abhimanyu, Shammi Thilakan, Anson Paul, Ishaan Shoukath, and Yukti Thareja. The film served as a standalone spin-off to the 2019 action-drama Mikhael.
