The Maharashtra Cyber Cell filed an FIR against comedian Samay Raina's show India's Got Latent on Tuesday amid the raging controversy surrounding Youtuber Ranveer Allahbadia's comment in its latest episode. While complaints have already been filed against Samay and Ranveer in Mumbai, the state cyber cell has now booked around 40 people who were a part of the show since its first episode.

"A case has been filed against a total of 30 to 40 people. A case has been filed against all the people who were involved from the first episode of the show to episode 6. The process of sending notices to everyone has been started. Everyone will be called to record their statements," an official of the Maharashtra Cyber Cell told ANI.

Samay, who is the creator of the show, is yet to react to the entire controversy.

What is the India's Got Latent controversy?

A massive outrage erupted on social media after Ranveer, along with Apoorva Mukhija and Ashish Chanchlani, appeared as guests in the latest episode of India's Got Latent, which is hosted by Samay.

During the episode, Ranveer asked a contestant, "Would you rather watch your parents have sex for the rest of your life — or would you join in once and stop it forever?" Apoorva and Samay were seen laughing at the supposed "joke".

This did not go down well with netizens, who slammed the show and the content creators for promoting obscenity and vulgarity online under the garb of freedom of speech. Later, Ranveer issued an apology, stating that there was a "lapse in judgement" on his part.

Complaints have been filed against those involved in Mumbai and Indore, and the Assam Police filed an FIR against Ranveer, Samay and the others on Monday.
