Kajol is back on the big screens after a gap of nearly three years with Maa. Her last release, Salaam Venky, was a disaster at the box office with a lifetime collection of Rs. 1.25 crore. However, with Maa, the audience had high expectations as the trailer had impressed one and all. Also, the makers claimed that the film is 'from the world of Shaitaan', so moviegoers were excited to watch Maa.
But, the Vishal Furia directorial has received mixed reviews from the critics and the audience. So, it will be interesting to see how Maa performs at the box office. As per early estimates, the Kajol starrer might collect around Rs. 4-5 crore on its first day. If there's a jump during the night shows, then the collection can be around Rs. 6-7 crore.
Also, the makers on day one itself gave an offer of buy 2 and get 1 ticket free. So, it will help the film to get a boost at the box office. However, it will be interesting to see if Maa will show growth over the weekend or not.
Maa Review
Maa has received mixed to negative reviews from critics. The Free Press Journal's reviewer gave the movie 2 stars and wrote, "Maa turns out to be just a strictly average film. With such a great concept, the film had the potential to be a fantastic cinematic experience, but sadly, that didn't happen. However, if you are a Kajol fan, you can surely give it a try!"
Kajol's Upcoming Movies
While Maa has been released, Kajol has some other interesting projects lined up as well. She will be seen in Dharma Productions' Sarzameen, which also stars Ibrahim Ali Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran. The actress also has Maharagni: Queen of Queens in her kitty. In the movie, Kajol will be seen in a totally massy avatar.
