After much anticipation and hype, the teaser of War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, was unveiled by the makers on Tuesday, on the occasion of the latter's birthday. But the anticipation for the film died down as soon as fans watched the teaser, and many felt called it "underwhelming", while also criticising the visual effects.
The teaser promises an intense face off between Hrithik and Jr NTR with some magnanimous action sequences, while a blink-and-miss appearance by Kiara Advani gave the audience a glimpse of the glamour quotient in the massy movie.
However, the VFX came as a major disappointment for fans, who complained that despite a budget of over Rs 200 crore and claims of shooting across multiple countries, most of the scenes were shot using a green screen and that too in a rather shoddy manner.
"Vfx is so disappointing and outright bad (sic)," a user wrote, while another commented, "Why it looked fan made!!!?! Why ayan why? Sid anand come back bro (sic)." "Everything looks green screen. NTR looks completely, completely unconvincing. Hrithik is the only credible thing about the film (sic)," another fan stated.
Hrithik also shared the official poster of War 2 and wrote, "And so it begins, @tarak9999 . Be prepared, there is no place for mercy. Welcome to Hell. Love, Kabir (sic)."
While the original War was directed by Siddharth Anand, known for his classy action sequences, the baton was passed on to director Ayan Mukerji for War 2. War (2019), starring Hrithik and Tiger Shroff, had earned a whopping Rs 318 crore at the box office, making it one of the highest grossing films of the year.
War 2 is reportedly set to hit the silver screens on August 14, 2025.
