It has been speculated for so long about Rani and Aditya Chopra, that it frankly seems rather odd when we hear that the two are about to finally make it official… Apparently, the two are set to get married this February at Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur. With the Mukerjis and Chopras celebrating Diwali together and the likes of Shatrughan Sinha slipping in a ‘Rani Chopra’ comment between his eulogy to Yash Chopra, this long-winding, hushed-up affair is finally reaching its conclusion.
According to a source, the venue was decided upon when Rani Mukerji attended Nita Ambani’s birthday celebrations at Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur and was totally mesmerised by what she saw. Post the Diwali celebrations last year, where the entire Mukerji family was at the Chopra House, it was almost certain that the announcement was on its way and, as expected, the confirmation came just a few days ago. The wedding celebrations will apparently take place in the first two weeks of February. Aditya wants to keep it a private affair as he has always been elusive with the media.
For a while now, there have been rumours about Aditya having proposed to Rani and the duo having got engaged, all of which was fuelled by the huge rock Rani has been spotted wearing on her finger. But looks like finally, 2014 will end all doubts on that front.
Way back in July 2013, there were rumours stating that Pamela Chopra, Aditya’s mother had been enquiring with their family priests about an auspicious day for her son’s wedding. Also, it seems that the couple had planned to get married in 2012 itself, however Yash Chopra’s sudden death had postponed all the plans. As per Hindu customs, no festivities or celebrations can take place for a year after the death of a family member. So, finally, we might get to hear good news from the Chopra household soon.
While it looks like there would be an official announcement in the offing, it would also be interesting to see if this time around Aditya Chopra would be successful in avoiding the media glare – something that he has been doing so far!
