South Korean superstar Kim Soo Hyun finally broke his silence on his involvement in the raging Kim Sae-ron dating scandal. And post the press conference, his legal representative announced that the actor has decided to file a defamation case against the woman claiming to be the late actress' aunt and a YouTube channel, seeking Rs 77 crore in damages.
Post Soo Hyun's press conference in Seoul on Monday, his legal representative said, "They have entrusted our law firm with this matter. We have filed a defamation complaint against the deceased’s family, the individual claiming to be Kim Sae-ron’s aunt, and the operator of the YouTube channel Gaseyeon. The complaint includes the forensic analysis report mentioned by Kim Soo-hyun as supporting evidence."
"We have additionally filed a civil lawsuit seeking damages totaling approximately 12 billion KRW against these individuals," the representative informed. The amount roughly converts to around Rs 77 crore.
The representative also stated that Soo Hyun did not take any questions during the press conference as he has already filed the lawsuit and the matter is now sub-judice. "He believes that it should be resolved through proper legal judgment," his team said.
During the press conference, Soo Hyun finally admitted that he once dated Sae-ron for a year, but not when she was a minor. "The deceased and I dated for about a year, five years ago, four years before Queen of Tears aired. But at the time, I denied our relationship," he said, adding that speaking up about the relationship might hamper his image as a star.
He then accused Sae-ron's family and representatives of fabricating screenshots and audio clips to frame him as a "pedophile and someone who groomed a minor".
"I am willing to admit to any wrongdoing on my part. If there is something I must take responsibility for, I believe it is only right to do so. But I cannot admit to things I did not do. For everyone who still believes in me, I want to make this one thing clear. I won’t ask you to trust me, I will prove it to you," he concluded.
Sae-ron's family is yet to react to Soo Hyun's explosive press conference.
