The makers of the much-anticipated Kesari Chapter 2 dropped the trailer of the film on Thursday, and it promises to be a high-voltage courtroom drama right from the very first shot. The film is based on the life of C Sankaran Nair, who fought against the Crown when India was still under the British rule and sued them for genocide after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre on April 13, 1919.

The 3-minute-2-second trailer begins with Akshay, as C Sankaran Nair, questioning General Dyer, the primary perpetrator in the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, for ordering his men to open fire at the people present at the venue without any warning and motive. It proceeds to show some gruesome and gutwrenching visuals of the massacre, followed by the British government discussing how Nair had been giving them a hard time and only person could save them.

Thus enters R Madhavan as Neville McKinley, and his face-off with Nair in the courtroom forms the crux of the story. "We are sueing the crown for genocide," Akshay as Nair declares.

The trailer also gives glimpses of Ananya Panday as advocate Dilreet Gill, fighting alongside Nair, while also breaking the stereotypes against working women.

Sharing the trailer on his social media handle, producer Karan Johar wrote, "One man, his courage, his words - that shook the entire empire. Uncover the most shocking lie ever told. Uncover the darkest chapter of our history. Uncover the truth behind Jallianwala Bagh tragedy (sic)."

From the trailer, Kesari Chapter 2 looks promising and appears to be a film that will keep the audience hooked until the final scene. This might also just be the film that Akshay needs to re-establish his footing in Bollywood after a back-to-back flops over the past couple of years.

Kesari Chapter 2 has been directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, and produced by Dharma Productions, Cape of Good Films, Leo Media Collective. It is set to hit the silver screens on April 18, 2025.
