Kannada actress and former Bigg Boss contestant Deepika Das' mother Padmalatha has reportedly filed a police complaint against a man named Yashwanth who threatened them on call and even demanded money.
According to several media reports, the accused allegedly used abusive language, and made shocking allegations against Deepika's husband, Deepak Kumar. Deepika and Deepak tied the knot in March 2024.
A report in TOI stated that the caller criticised Padmalatha for supporting Deepika's marriage to Deepak. He also accused Deepak of illegal activities. "Why did you marry your daughter to him? He is a fraudster who has cheated people under the guise of real estate deals," the caller reportedly mentioned on call. He also urged Padmalatha to take legal action against Deepak.
It did not stop there. The man then called Deepika and told her that she was not aware about her husband's actions and wrongdoings.
The caller then stated on call that if they faily to give him money, he will tarnish Padmalatha and her family's reputation. Reportedly, he also claimed that he would die by suicide and blame the actress' family for his actions.
Padmalatha filed a complaint at the Madanayakanahalli police station and a case has been registered under Section BNS 308(2) of the Indian Penal Code. Further investigations are currently underway.

Deepika began her acting career in 2014 with the film Doodh Saagar. She also starred in a Tamil film called Ee Manase in the same year. She is also an entrepreneur.
