After the pool scene in Santa Banta pvt ltd, you can blame Neha Dhupia for the rise in temperature. She talks to Viraj Sawant about sharing screen space with the best comedians in the country.
Tell us something about your upcoming film Santa Banta pvt ltd.
It’s a fun comedy film and I am glad to be a part of this film. It’s pretty phenomenal to see how Akashdeep has managed to get pretty much everyone from the comic scene of Bollywood into one films. We have an interesting cast in the film, especially Boman (Irani), Vir (Das), Ram (Kapoor) also Johnny sir, Vijay Raaj and many more. It’s definitely a blast when you have India’s best comedians on the set.
How was it working with two of Bollywood’s funniest men, Vir and Boman, and also Lisa Haydon?
It was great working with both of them. Vir and Boman are great actors and very funny on screen and off screen too. They take their humour very seriously. It’s not easy to be funny all the time. They are funny because they are great performers. I got to learn a lot from them. I got to know Boman and Vir more and we bonded on fitness and performances. Lisa is a great dude. In our free time we would train outdoors or have a barbeque party or listen to Boman’s interesting stories. We all had a good time. Even Johnny Lever was phenomenal. It’s amazing to be in a place where 4g and 3 g don’t work on your phones. We would watch Johnny Lever and Boman’s live performances and I really enjoyed working on this film. Even the weather in Fiji was fantastic, clean air and eating good food. There is very little to complain about.
Can you tell us something about your role in the film?
I play the Fijian ambassador’s wife and there is this love interest that crops up. My character is a little fishy and it’ll be better if I reveal less about it.
Comedy or drama, which genre of movies do you like the most?
I like doing comedy films but drama is more challenging. My next film is a drama film. Moh Maya Money. It was very challenging and it’s finally ready for release. I enjoy watching comedies and doing drama. It’s not like comedy films aren’t challenging but I enjoy working on drama more.
How was your experience of working on an indie film like Moh Maya Money?
It’s RanveerS horey and me in the film. It’s a small budget film with a big heart. Independent films have very big heart. It’s never a problem to do an Indie film.
You have been away from films for quiet sometime now, were you looking for better scripts?
There is always an option of working in every film that you get an option of not doing it. It’s not like I have been away from the business. I have been doing Roadies for about 6 months and then I have my endorsements also. I am not shy saying that when you don’t get the right script you don’t have to still get up and go to work every day. There are people who work for the heck of working and then regret. Its my sense of security that doesn’t drags me to work everyday. I am not the kind of person who’ll feel bad seeing others going to work every day. It’s not that I am not working, its that I haven’t found the right film so I am not taking them up. I am not interested in being just a pair of legs with three other actors and if I am getting those kinds of films then I just don’t want to do it.
After the Roadies experience, are you ready to do an out an out action film?
It made me absolutely fearless and the most phenomenal experience I have ever had. 45 days of outdoor shooting changed me completely. My biggest grudge with myself was that I would question and anticipate fear and now I don’t do it. I have come out fearless and that’s only because of Roadies. I am thankful to whoever thought of taking me as a squad leader in Roadies.
