'It Will Forever Be Yours': Kaanta Laga Makers 'RETIRE' Shefali Jariwala's Cult Song After Her Tragic Death

The makers of the iconic song, Kaanta Laga, featuring actress Shefali Jariwala, announced that they have decided to officially "retire" the song as an ode to the late star. "You always said you wanted to be the one and only ‘Kaanta Laga’ girl....So we never made a sequel — and we never will...We’re retiring ‘Kaanta Laga’ forever (sic)," they wrote.

The makers of the iconic song, Kaanta Laga, which featured actress Shefali Jariwala, stated on Thursday that they have decided to officially "retire" the song as an ode to the late star. They announced that the song will never be remade or remixed, in memory of Shefali.

Directors Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, who launched Shefali with the iconic track, attended her prayer meet of the actress on Wednesday. They then took to their Instagram handle and sharing a poster of the late actress, revealed how she was proud to be known as the 'Kaanta Laga girl'.

"Yesterday Was The Prayer Meeting. Saying The Final Goodbyes… With Our First Photo Session Together.. ‘Kaanta Laga’ - CD Inlay Card (sic)," the director duo wrote.

They went on to state, "You Always Said You Wanted To Be The One And Only ‘Kaanta Laga’ Girl. So We Never Made A Sequel — And We Never Will. We’re Retiring ‘Kaanta Laga’ Forever. It Was Always Yours. It Will Always Be Yours… Shefali... RIP (sic)."

Netizens appreciated their decision and said that there could not be a better farewell gift for the late actress. Kaanta Laga released in 2002 and Shefali became an overnight sensation with the cult song.

Shefali Jariwala passed away on June 27, Friday, at her residence in Mumbai after suffering a cardiac arrest. The actress was declared dead by the time she was rushed to the hospital by her husband, Parag Tyagi.

Shefali was reportedly fasting on the day she died. She had also been taking anti-ageing supplements and injections for several years now, and on the day of her death too, she took one of those injections on an empty stomach. However, it reportedly caused an intense reaction and her blood pressure dropped critically low, which then resulted into a cardiac arrest.

Her husband Parag was seen breaking down and crying inconsolably as he performed the actress' last rites in Mumbai. Her mortal remains were immersed at the Juhu beach.
