Bollywood star Akshay Kumar is set to return to the silver screens this Friday with the hard-hitting film, Kesari Chapter 2, which is based on the aftermath of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. And just ahead of the film's release, the actor had a special request for the audience as he asked them to not use phones during the screening.

On Tuesday, Aoril 15, Akshay attended a special premiere of Kesari Chapter 2 in New Delhi, which was graced by politicians and other dignitaries. While interacting with the media at the event, Akshay made the request to his fans.

"I humbly request you all to please keep your phones in your pockets and listen to every dialogue of this film. It will mean a lot. If you try to check your Instagram during the movie, it will be a humiliation for the film. So I request everyone to keep their phones away," he said.

Akshay also urged all Indians to watch the film and know about several chapters from the country's past, which are now lost in the history books.

For those unversed, Akshay is set to play the role of advocate C Sankaran Nair in Kesari Chapter 2, who had sued the British government and had accused the Crown of genocide post the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919. On April 13, 1919, British officers had opened fire at innocent Indians who had assembled at Jallianwala Bagh in Punjab, killing hundreds of innocent men, women and children. The incident is termed as one of the darkest chapters in India's history.

In Kesari Chapter 2, Akshay will be seen locking horns inside the courtroom with R Madhavan, who is set to essay the role of advocate Neville McKinley, the lawyer who represented the British empire in the case. The film also stars Ananya Panday in a key role.

Kesari Chapter 2 is set to hit the silver screens on April 18, 2025.
