This time of the year has always been special for Bollywood not just because of the monsoons rather it’s the time when the B-town honchos get rewarded for their performances in the prestigious International Indian Film Awards. The countdown for this years’ 14th IIFA award held in Macau has begun and some Bollywood celebs were already seen gathering at an event of the 14th IIFA awards weekend. This year’s eye candies hosting this event are Shahrukh Khan and Shahid Kapoor while the function would take place from 4th July – 6th July.
The IIFA schedule has a lot of events in store and here is a glimpse to the whole bonanza. Day one will start with the promotions of the comedy film ‘Santa Banta’ where Boman Irani plays Santa and Banta’s character will be played by Vir Das. Neha Dhupia and Lisa Hayden play the female leads while the movie is being directed by the 2000 film ‘Ghaath’ fame director Akashdeep and he talks about the film saying, “We finally wrapped up the film and the dream has come true thanks to IIFA for giving us a chance to showcase our film at this big platform. As for the first time you will see a face to these fun stars of folklore of Santa and Banta — Boman Irani and Vir Das.”
Day two will have acting workshops hosted by Anupam Kher, Ramesh Sippy and Shabana Azmi and like every year, IIFA will once again support the social cause of women empowerment. To this Shababna says, “It gives me great pleasure to announce that IIFA from this year is supporting power of 49. 49, is the figure of the women we have in our country and we know we can get civilised if these 49% gets empowered.”
The second half of IIFA will have Madhuri Dixit’s film ‘Gulaab Gang’’s promotional event after which the IIFA Rocks night will be organized that would be hosted by Santa Banta — Boman and Vir das. As for last year’s host Ayushman Khurrana will this year perform on the stage along with Parineeti Chopra. “This is my second outing. Last year was the first outing when I was a host,” says Ayushmann. Arjun Kapoor would set the stage on fire with his performance for the first time and apart from them Madhuri Dixit, Sridevi and Deepika Padukone will grace the night as well with their dance performances.
With new-comers buzzing the B-town, the event will see a lot of news faces and the ‘Kai Po Che!’ boy — Sushant Singh Rajput seems to be pretty enthusiastic about it as he says, “I’m really excited to be part of IIFA. This will be my first time; well actually not exactly as I have been a background dancer for IIFA for many years.”
Thus a lot is in store for everyone in this star-studded annual event.
