Veteran actor Paresh Rawal has responded to the wave of backlash and trolling that followed his revelation about consuming his own urine to heal a knee injury. The statement, made during an interview, had gone viral and drew mixed reactions from the public - ranging from shock to ridicule.

Addressing the controversy and trolls in a new interview with Bollywood Hungama, Rawal appeared unfazed by the uproar. "I haven't offered them (urine), right? Or are they having a problem because I didn’t offer them? Are they feeling, 'Yaar yeh akele pee gaye aur humko nahin diya?'" he asked.

The actor clarified that the incident he spoke about took place nearly four decades ago and was a personal experience. "It's an incident of my life which took place 40 years ago. Woh maine bol diya. Usme kya ho gaya? People enjoy making a mountain out of a molehill. Karne do unko mazaa."

Rawal also revealed that several people approached him following the viral statement but chose not to elaborate further. "A lot of people have, but I don’t want to get into it," he stated.

The actor's statement had initially sparked debate online, with netizens trolling him for the unusual remedy, while others supported his right to share personal health choices.

In April 2025, Rawal resorted to drinking his first morning urine under the advice of stunt coordinator Veeru Devgan to heal a painful knee injury sustained during the shoot of Ghatak. He recounted slipping on fish guts in a market scene, injuring his knee, and being rushed to Mumbai's Nanavati Hospital where he feared the worst for his acting career.

But Veeru Devgan offered an unconventional remedy, "Subah uthkar apna pehla urine peena, sab fighter log yeh hi karte hain. Koi takleef nahi rahegi, kabhi kuch nahi hoga. Lekin pichhli raat ko sharab mat peena, mutton, tobacco kuch mat khana."

The actor followed through, saying he sipped it 'like a beer' for 15 days, and astonishingly, his injury healed ahead of schedule. "Doctor dang reh gaye. Unhone kaha, 'Yeh cementing apne aap kaise ho gayi?'" he shared.

Meanwhile, on the work front, the actor will be seen in films like Ajey: The Untold Story of a Yogi, Badtameez Gill, Thama, The Taj Story, Bhooth Bangla, Welcome To The Jungle and Hera Pheri 3.
