Sophie Choudry Has Been All Over The Television With Her ‘Dharam Sankat Mein’ And Now She Is Talking With Films, Fashion And Future With Shubarna Mukerji Shu

How did the song ‘Do you know baby’ with Gippy Grewal come about?

Well, the producer of the film is a friend of mine, he had called to check if there are any choreographers who would work on the song, and I had helped with that. Then later I get a call asking if I could play a little part in the whole ‘Dharam Sankat…’ scene. believe me I never even asked him what I have to do I just came on board. It is a small film and something that needs to be seen by people, I knew the script a long time ago since I told you I knew the makers and being a part of it, makes me proud.

You think your recent television stint helped you….

See the offers were always coming in. Having said that it is also true that being seen helps in every way. Just a day after the ‘Do you know baby…’ song hit the marquee, I got three offers. So yes, being seen helps and also the fact that the film scene itself has been changing. I think when I was a part of ‘Pyar Ke Side Effects’, it was a film which was way ahead of its time. It was a complete package for me, right from singing, to acting, to dancing I could do everything that I loved in that film. I am hoping more such offers come by. Given the way the films are progressing, I am certain there is a great future. Not just for me but for cinema.

Future often also depends on competition. Given that the competition is so fierce don’t you ever get bogged down by the pressures of looking perfect, being perfect and putting the right foot forward?

Believe me, I always look well groomed, even while I am at home. It is just who I am. For someone who is born and brought up in London, lived in Paris I am used to seeing people always well-turned out. It is a part of how I am intrinsically. I don’t feel the pressure of it at all. When I first came to Mumbai I had to be traveling to London every two or three months because we didn’t have the brands here. Now everything is right here, you can groom yourself without much effort then why wouldn’t people do that? It is not what you wearing, always, you can be in your jeans and a tee, but if your well manicured, well taken care of you will obviously make a better impression.

A lot of people tell me that girls are moody, they don’t like to dress up some days and yes I am moody too, there are times when I don’t feel like getting out of my boyfriend jeans but believe me when I say this if you are feeling blue or low, and you just don’t bother with how you are looking and end up looking terrible, the sight of you will turn you more sad. At the same time, if you are looking good it will cheer you up marginally, so why not?

Invest

in a good eye cream, you don’t have to be in your 40s to do that! If you start early if will only help you it is something that brightens your whole appeal. And of course, wear very good fitted jeans. I am someone who is known to be more of a dresses kind of a person but I have the maximum number of jeans. You name it and I have it. In all colors, shapes and fits! I think investing in a good fitting jeans is a must. And of course stilettos. I know with Mumbai roads you cannot possible walk in pencil heels without making it entertaining for all, but high heels does make your posture really good.
