When news came buzzing about Karan Johar’s most possessive project ‘Shuddhi’, directed by Karan Malhotra starring Greek god lookalike Hrithik Roshan and the exceptionally beautiful Kareena Kapoor Khan, everyone was very excited to see this pair opposite each other after almost a decade.
After the cast was finalised, matching dates was another mammoth project altogether for this mega project which required 100 days from Kareena’s schedule and much more from Hrithik’s. However, the film was stalled because our protagonist was getting himself treated in the hospital amongst other reasons which made Kareena contemplate.
‘Shuddhi’ has always been in the news for various reasons, starting from bringing old on screen lovers Kareena and Hrithik together after a decade to being the most ambitious project to come out
of Dharma Productions to
name a few.
But now follows the sad news, Kareena who has been waiting for the film to start for a very long time has given up and has opted out of it. Not just her, but Hrithik Roshan would also not be a part of this project anymore and the film is being shelved, so the Dharma team is back to square one.
When asked about it, Hrithik said, “Karan Malhotra and I have decided to unite in the most ambitious way post ‘Shuddhi’. For now I cannot allow a vision like ‘Shuddhi’ to stagnate any further. I had the finest experience an actor can have working with Karan Malhotra in ‘Agneepath’ and I’m sure both my dear Karans are going to go beyond with this one! ‘Shuddhi’ remains a part of me in spirit & am sure it will be a landmark in our cinema. I wish them all the best!”
Now speculation is that Karan is looking for a younger actress and is considering Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone for the same. Deepika Padukone, interestingly, had been the second choice for Sanjay Leela Bhasali’s masterpiece ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela – Ramleela’ as Kareena Kapoor had opted out because of date issues (of course!).
Now is Deepika going to take everything away from the Queen B of Tinselwood or is it just a mere co-incidence? Whatever the answer might be, it just breaks our heart to not see Hrithik and Kareena in ‘Shuddhi’. Tsk…Tsk…
