Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan congratulated superstar Rajinikanth for completing 50 glorious years in the film industry. He penned a heartfelt note and it comes a day before their films' clash. For those unversed, Hrithik's War 2 is all set to clash with Rajinikanth's Coolie at the box office. Both the much-awaited films are scheduled to hit the big screens on August 14.

Taking to his X account on Wednesday, Hrithik wrote, "Took my first steps as an actor at your side. You were one of my first teachers, @rajinikanth sir, and continue to be an inspiration and a standard. Congratulations on completing 50 years of on-screen magic."

Hrithik had starred as a child artist in Rajinikanth's 1986 film Bhagwaan Dada. The film also featured Hrithik's father Rakesh Roshan, who had also produced it.

Bhagwaan Dada marked the screen debut of Hrithik as a child actor. The film featured young Hrithik in a brief yet memorable role as Govinda, the on-screen son of Dipika Chikhlia and Rajinikanth's characters. Though he appeared in only a few scenes, his expressive performance caught attention.

Hrithik, then just 12 years old, shared screen space with some of the biggest stars of the time, including Rakesh, Sridevi, Tina Munim, Paresh Rawal and others giving audiences an early glimpse of his natural charm.

War 2 vs Coolie

The Independence Day box office clash is turning into a high-octane race, with Coolie surging ahead of War 2 in advance booking figures. Both films are slated for an August 14 release, setting the stage for a blockbuster weekend.

As per Sacnilk, Coolie has already raked in an impressive Rs 26.55 crore in advance ticket sales, climbing to Rs 34.89 crore when blocked seats are counted.

Directed by Lokesh, the film also stars Nagarjuna Akkineni, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, and Aamir Khan.

On the other hand, War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji, has so far collected around Rs 9.47 crore in advance sales across all languages and formats, with its total climbing to an estimated Rs 17.66 crore after factoring in blocked seats. It also features Jr NTR, Kiara Advani and Ashutosh Rana.
