Potterheads were in for a surprise on Wednesday after the new Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermoine Granger were announced for the upcoming Harry Potter series. And soon after, desi fans of the fable went into a tizzy, demanding our very own Bollywood actor Abhay Verma to be cast as James Potter.
Yes, you read that right! It began with Potterheads in India deeming Abhay fit for the role, but soon after, even the fans outside of India agreed and felt that he would be the perfect choice to play the brief but significant part.
Fans pointed out that Abhay had the face, smile and unruly hair of James Potter, as the character has been described by JK Rowling in her book, and he also has an uncanny resemblance with the looks of his son, Harry Potter.
"I think he makes a very nice James - got that slightly cocky (but harmlessly so), yet affable energy down to the tee (sic)," a netizen commented, while another wrote, "Perfect desi James, exact right mischief in his eyes (sic)." "He would be perfect! (sic)," a fan gushed.
Abhay is yet to react to the demand of fans asking him to be James Potter.
Meanwhile, after months of casting calls and auditions, the makers of Harry Potter series finally introduced the child actors playing the lead trio to the world. "Please welcome Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley to the HBO Original Series Harry Potter," the makers said in an official statement.
As for Abhay, he became a fan-favourite with his performance in the 2024 blockbuster Munjya. He will be next seen in Shah Rukh Khan's much-awaited film, King, which also stars Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, and others in key roles.
