Actress Sanya Malhotra's latest film, Mrs, has taken the country by storm, and the film is being lauded for a realistic portrayal of many Indian households. And now, veteran actor Kanwaljit Singh, who played Sanya's father-in-law in the film, revealed that he apologised to the actress after watching Mrs.

Kanwaljit told India Today that he did not remember much about the film as he was shooting for four projects simultaneously. "I had forgotten all about the character. But when I saw the film, I felt so disgusted that I instantly went to Sanya and said sorry," he revealed.

He shared that Sanya was taken aback by his apology but he told her that he was sorry for troubling her in the film and that he actually felt bad about it.

He also heaped praise on Sanya and gushed, "She has nailed the part, and seeing her go through the struggles left all of us distraught."

Directed by Arati Kadav, Mrs is the Hindi adaptation of the Malayalam film, The Grean Indian Kitchen. The film shows the struggles of an ambitious woman who gets married into a patriarchal family and how she eventually decided to break the shackles of the society and set herself free.

Within days of its release, Mrs became one of the most searched films on Google, and along with lauding the film, netizens also commented how many scenes were "triggering", but were much needed to be shown.

Meanwhile, Sanya took to her Instagram handle to pen a thank you note for everyone who liked and praised the film. "My heart is so full. To everyone who has watched Mrs felt for Richa and embraced her journey. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your love, messages and support have been overwhelming and I’m deeply grateful for each one of you (sic)," she wrote.
