On the eve of Deepika Padukone’s 33rd birthday, we list down the seven big revelations made by the actress about her love life and husband Ranveer Singh post marriage. Now Deepika unlike Ranveer was never vocal about her feelings and that’s how the world knew only about Ranveer’s love for Deepika and not vice a versa. However post their marriage the actress literally poured her heart out which proved that she too is head over heels in love with Ranveer.
So while the world celebrates, Asia’s sexiest girl’s birthday, we list down seven times Deepika proved that ‘Mastani Ne Bajirao Se Mohabbat Ki Thi Aiyashi Nahi.’
Deepika said to a magazine that although she first met Ranveer at an award show in Singapore, it was their meeting at Yash Raj which made her take notice of Ranveer who started flirting with her in spite of being in a relationship. Deepika said, “I was at Yash Raj and he was there and he was flirting like it’s nobody’s business and he was dating somebody else at this point and I was smiling to myself and told him, You are flirting with me.’”
Reminiscing about her dating days, the actress stated that the most special moment from her dating days would be the time when she and Ranveer were having lunch at Bhansali’s house. Deepika said, “Sir called us over for lunch and we were eating and apparently there was a piece of crab stuck in my tooth and he wanted to make me awkward and he said, oh there’s a crab stuck in your mouth’ and I said, Then take it out’. That moment all three of us won’t forget.”
Yes that’s what Deepika thought when she first started dating Singh. She was never looking for anything serious rather she just wanted to be in an open relationship where there is no barrier of commitment. The fact that she ended up marrying Ranveer is a different yet beautiful story. Deepika said, “I’d been in several relationships before and many times my trust was broken. When I met Ranveer, I was exhausted. I’ve never casually dated anyone. I’ve been in relationships since I was 13. Now that I’m married I can say this. Whether it was one year, two years or three years, they were always proper relationships. It was always if you like someone you give it your hundred per cent.”
She further added, “So when this relationship, which I was in, ended in 2012, I was like I’m done. I wanted to try out this concept of casual dating. I just did not want to be answerable to anyone. When Ranveer and I met in 2012, I told him I realise there’s a connection between us. I really like you but I want to keep it open. I don’t want to commit. If I get attracted to different people I’m going to do my thing. But nothing happened. I couldn’t get myself to do any of that.”
This was by far the biggest revelation. Deepika said that she got engaged with Ranveer four years back in a private ceremony. Guess what, media was right with their engagement stories of Deepika and Ranveer which made rounds four years back.
We have heard Ranveer expressing his love openly for Deepika many a times, but it was the first time when Deepika said her exact true feelings for Ranveer. Deepika said, “I think you just know when you want to spend the rest of your life with that one person – and he’s everything rolled into one man. He’s my best friend, playmate, companion and confidant. I can be silly in front of him, I can be stupid in front of him, I can be sick in front of him, I can be whatever I want to be.”
She further added, ‘With Ranveer and me, our relationship rests on the fact that we’re extremely liberal with each other, extremely supportive of each other’s professional careers and know each other’s personal needs. I think when we started dating six years ago, professionally, we were both in very different places. My career took off slightly before his, but throughout our relationship, right from 2013 – even when I was shooting for [Goliyon Ki Rasleela] Ram-Leela and Chennai Express – nothing has changed.”
Yes like a typical Indian husband or let’s say a loveable husband Ranveer fears Deepika more than his own parents. Deepika said, “I think he’s the most scared of me versus his parents or his sister. I’d like to believe or maybe that’s just how they make me feel, but I’d like to believe that when they want something to get done, they will ask me to do it,”
Like Ranveer, Deepika shares a beautiful relationship with her in-laws. While talking about them, Deepika said, “For his father, I’m like a daughter. But for his mom, I’m like a friend, a beti also. I can tell her my deepest darkest secrets. It’s stupid to explain because I can’t even put it into words. There’s nothing that I have to keep from them. They are like my parents now, they are my family. Uncle is emotional, he breaks down easily. Mum’s an absolute chiller. Like she will party with the youngsters till eight in the morning.”
