Mumbai Police Economic offenses Wing yesterday filed a 176 page chargesheet against Bollywood Producer Prerna Arora who is known for producing films like Padman and Kedarnath, for committing fraud of Rs 31 crore along with two others by Vashu Bhagnani.
For those uninitiated, during the year 2016-2018, Prerna along with co-owners of KriArj, Arjun N Kapoor and Pratima Arora had taken a loan of Rs 31 crore under the name of her mother to produce Kedarnath and Padman. While both the films were successful at the box office, Prerna borrowed money for Kedarnath in spite of the fact that the rights of the film didn’t belonged to her.
Arora has also taken a loan of Rs 9 crore from Bhagnani to buy a property in Pali Hill. However when the Bhagnani’s demanded his money back, Prerna started avoiding their calls and that’s when Bhagnani’s manager along with two other companies filed a case against Arora in July 2018 with Mumbai Police EOW.
Last year Prerna was arrested in the same case by EOW however since her mother was absconding, the police were searching for her. According to Mumbai Police, 25 people have been identified as witness in this case. Police refrained to make any comment as the investigations are still going on.
