Days after former MP Ramya accused Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa's fans of abusing her and sending vulgar messages, Bigg Boss Kannada 4 winner Pratham filed a complaint with the police stating that the actor's fans had kidnapped and threatened him.
On Tuesday, Pratham submitted his complaint to the Bengaluru Police, in which he claimed that one Bakery Raghu and his associates kidnapped him and threatened him for criticising Darshan. He said that the incident took place on July 22 in Doddaballapur after Pratham visited the Yellamma temple. He claimed that the goons wielded weapons at him.
"They brandished a dagger and knife. When confronting me, Raghu showed a photograph taken inside jail, claiming to be with Darshan. It was with great difficulty that I managed to escape with my life. It was a serious incident," Pratham stated in his complaint.
He also claimed that the accused pulled him out of his car using force and abused him for speaking against Darshan. Pratham has now said that he will practice indefinite hunger strike at the SP's office until Darshan himself intervenes and asks his fans to stop harming and threatening actors.
Earlier, Ramya had complained that she was being subjected to immense hate and abuses ever since she spoke about Darshan for his involvement in the infamous Renukaswamy murder case.
About Renukaswamy murder case
Darshan, along with live-in partner and actress Pavithra Gowda and several others, was arrested for the murder of Renukaswamy in Bengaluru. It all began when Renukaswamy, who claimed to be a fan of Pavithra Gowda, allegedly sent lewd messages to the actress, which enraged Darshan. Renukaswamy's mangled body was found in a drain in Bengaluru on June 8.
Darshan had later confessed to the cops of torturing Renukaswamy before he died. According to the 3,991-page chargesheet, Darshan told the cops that he hit Renukaswamy with a tree branch and also kicked him on his head, chest and near his neck. He also admitted that he asked a bunch of his own fans to kidnap Renukaswamy and "teach him a lesson".
Darshan was arrested on June 11 and he was granted bail on December 13 after spending five months in jail as the primary accused in the murder case.
