BAFTA 2025: All We Imagine As Light Nominated For Best Foreign Film; Indian Films Monkey Man, Santosh, Sister Midnight Lead Nominations

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has announced the 2025 nominees. After Golden Globe nominations, Payal Kapadia's All We Imagine As Light earned a nomination for Best Film Not in the English Language. Payal missed out on Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. Four other Indian films, including Santosh and Sister Midnight, were nominated for Outstanding Debut.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has announced the nominees for its 2025 awards. After securing Golden Globes nominations in the Best Director and Best Foreign Language Film categories, Payal Kapadia's All We Imagine As Light has earned a nomination in the Best Film Not in the English Language category.

All We Imagine As Light will compete with Emilia Perez by Jacques Audiard, I’m Still Here by Walter Salles, Kneecap by Rich Peppiatt and Trevor Birney and The Seed of the Sacred Fig by Mohammad Rasoulof and Amin Sadraei.

Whereas Payal missed out on the Best Director and Best Original Screenplay categories at the BAFTAs.

Apart from Payal Kapadia's All We Imagine As Light, four other Indian films were nominated at the BAFTA 2025. Sandhya Suri's Santosh and Karan Kandhari's Sister Midnight were nominated in the Outstanding Debut by British Writer, Director, or Producer category, alongside Indian-origin filmmaker Dev Patel, who was also nominated in the same category.

The BAFTA 2025 awards will be available in India on Lionsgate Play on February 16, 2025.

Meanwhile, All We Imagine As Light, starring Kani Kusruti, Chhaya Kadam and Divya Prabha, was released in theatres on November 22 and it has been well-received by film critics as well as the audience. The story revolves around the lives of three working-class women in Mumbai.

The film is currently available to stream on Disney + Hotstar in India, where it premiered from January 3.
