B-town celebrates 20 years of HUM AAPKE HAIN KOUN

Superstar Salman Khan became popular as Prem thanks to his characters in Sooraj Barjatya’s films including ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’, ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’ and ‘Hum Aapke Hai Koun’. And yesterday the duo and other B-towners and fans were happy celebrating 20 years of the blockbuster hit film ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’!

‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’ is a hugely successful musical family drama and its star cast included Madhuri Dixit, Anupam Kher, Mohnish Behl, Renuka Shahane, Reema Lagoo and Alok Nath along with Salman Khan.

Congratulating Sooraj Barjatya, veteran actor Anupam Kher tweeted on Tuesday, “Happy 20th birthday to one of my most successful and cherished films – ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’. Thank you Sooraj for making this classic.”

‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’ was the first Bollywood film to earn over Rs.1 billion gross at the box office. What’s more, the family entertainer also won five Filmfare Awards as well as the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.

Congratulating the team of the film, filmmaker Karan Johar also took to the micro blogging site where he wrote, “#20YearsOfHAHK ….the movie that made me want to make movies!!!! @MadhuriDixit @BeingSalmanKhan and the man himself #SoorajBarjatya”.

Rajjat Barjatya, Managing Director and CEO of Rajshri Entertainment Pvt Limited also took to Twitter celebrating two decades of their superhot film. He posted, “#20YearsOfHAHK. The magic of ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’ continues. Congrats @BeingSalmanKhan @MadhuriDixit @AnupamPkher. Big day for us @rajshri”.

Meanwhile, Salman and Sooraj Barjatya are currently shooting for their next film ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ in Karjat, Maharashtra after a gap of 15 years! They last worked together for the multi-starrer film ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’ which also featured Saif Ali Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Tabu and Sonali Bendre. The duo celebrated the success of their film on the sets, according to a statement.
