Luka Chuppi bestie Aparshakti Khurana shares with ANITA RAHEJA-HEENA AGARWAL his weekend routine and plans for a special getaway in London.
Que sera sera
Aparshakti doesn’t rue the fact that, “The kind of field I am in, there isn’t a concept of weekend. It’s just another day for me. Having said that, whenever I am not shooting or working, it is a weekend for me.” He adds, “I am not too much of a weekend person, so I don’t really look forward to one. Given a choice, I would let the weekend happen to me.”
No gym breaks
Aparshakti may like an occasional break from the studios but not the gym. He emphasises, “I have been a sports person all my life and hence I don’t really like skipping the gym. In fact, on the days I am not working, I like to work out a little more.”
Thank God it’s Friday? Not really
He dismisses the TGIF concept. He says, “I believe it is a very corporate narrative. In a corporate you work from Monday to Friday and then you have a weekend. The kind of field I am in, doesn’t really have a weekend break structure.”
Keeps blues at bay
He doesn’t rule out Monday morning blues especially if he is working late on Sundays but he pushes them away and heads for the studio.
Weekend plans
His weekend plans are interesting. He divulges, “I am in London right now. So, I will probably be exploring the city and eating at my favourite restaurants at Mayfair. I am keen to visit Borough Market (a wholesale and retail food market in Southwark, London),” he shares.
Food and travel
“I, Aparshakti, LOVE (yes, he insists on all caps!) bingeing on food so much so that I don’t reserve any special day for it,” he informs. He loves lunches, brunches and also dinners, Sunday or otherwise. On the days when he is not working, he plans trips to nearby destinations like Lonavala, Pune. When he is in Delhi he drives down to Neemrana, and if in Chandigarh he likes to spend a weekend at Kasauli.
Boardgames over bar-hopping
A man of few vices, Aparshakti says, “I do party but since I don’t drink and smoke — yes I am a teetotaller— a party for me doesn’t translate as going to clubs and lounges. Parties for me means sitting with friends, playing board games like Taboo, Scrabble, etc.” Unlike most people who have a snooze-fest on weekends, Aparshakti says, “I am not too much of a sleeper. In fact, I don’t sleep at all and hence I don’t get up late on Sundays.”
Family, friends and autobiographies
Since he has no concept of weekend in his life, he unwinds in a simple fashion. He shares, “I like to catch up with my friends and family. I love spending time with them. By the way, I am a total binge-watcher of Netflix. I watch Netflix with my wife or we go occasionally to catch up on a play. I love going to spa too. I read autobiographies and biographies of people who inspire me. In fact, this is the only genre I enjoy in reading.”
