On Wednesday, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA), representing workers, technicians, artists, and professionals of the Indian film industry, announced a complete ban on Turkey for all film shoots and cultural collaborations, following the country's support to Pakistan, amid the escalating India-Pakistan conflict, citing the safety of Indian citizens and the nation's interests as their top priority.

As per the official press release shared on X (formerly Twitter), Turkish producers, production houses, artists, and other creative professionals have also been blacklisted and will no longer be permitted to work within the Indian entertainment industry. AICWA has further shared that all existing contracts or agreements with Turkish entities be thoroughly reviewed and, wherever feasible, terminated with immediate effect.

AICWA also stated that it will closely monitor the activities of Indian film professionals and organisations to ensure strict compliance with this directive. Any individual or entity found violating the ban will face serious consequences and action.

Turkey and Azerbaijan issued statements on May 8 in which both nations expressed support for Pakistan and criticised India's Operation Sindoor, where airstrikes targeted nine terror launch pads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in retaliation for the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives.

Several Bollywood films have previously been shot in Turkey, including Ek Tha Tiger, Race 2, Baby, Guru, Dil Dhadakne Do, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Baaghi 3, Laal Singh Chaddha, and Pathaan.
