Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis condemned YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia's indecent question to a contestant of Samay Raina's show India's Got Latent. While interacting with media persons on Monday (February 10), the CM said that comedians and influencers should not cross boundaries and that action should be taken against them.

"Certain things have been said and presented in a very wrong manner, as I have come to know... This is absolutely wrong. Everyone has the right to freedom of speech, but our freedom ends where we encroach upon someone else’s freedom. This is not right. I believe that even expression has its limits," Fadnavis said.

He added, "Our society has established certain norms regarding obscenity, and if someone crosses those boundaries, it is a very serious matter. Action should be taken against this."

Meanwhile, a complaint has been registered in Mumbai against Ranveer, social media influencer Apoorva Makhija (The Rebel Kid), Samay and organisers of India's Got Latent over the alleged use of 'abusive language' on the show and for 'promoting obscenity'. Strict action has been demanded against them.

However, they are yet to react to the controversy.

What is the controversy?

During one of the latest episodes of India's Got Latent, Ranveer appeared as a special guest along with Apoorva and Ashish Chanchlani. However, Ranveer is now facing criticism for his inappropriate questions and comments on the show.

He faced backlash on social media after he asked a contestant, "Would you rather watch your parents have sex for the rest of your life — or would you join in once and stop it forever?"

This did not go down well with social media users who lashed out at him for the indecent remark. A section of users also stated that Ranveer should be 'jailed'.

Instead of condemning the remarks, fellow panellists, including Apoorva and Samay, encouraged the conversation and they are also being slammed for the same.

India's Got Latent is one of the most popular shows currently and has received widespread acclaim. Several celebrities like Uorfi Javed, Rakhi Sawant, Tanmay Bhatt, Farah Khan, Bharti Singh, Haarsh Limbachiyaa, Raftaar, Poonam Pandey, Tony Kakkar, Avika Gor, Raghu Ram have appeared on the show as guests.

Samay shot to fame after India's Got Latent became a rage online. It has now become one of the highest viewed comedy shows on YouTube. For those unawares, Samay was the co-winner of the standup comedy contest Comicstaan 2.
