The entire nation was in for a shock after the iconic character of ACP Pradyuman, played by Shivaji Satam in the cult show CID, was killed off in the latest episode. And hours later, news went viral that actor Parth Samthaan is all set to mark his entry in CID 2 as the new ACP, thus replacing ACP Pradyuman, and this did not go well with ardent fans of the show.
The news of Parth replacing ACP Pradyuman as ACP Ayushmaan was confirmed by the actor himself. He said that even his own family thought he was joking when he announced that he will be playing the new ACP in CID 2.
But fans were immensely disappointed as most of them felt that the makers should have promoted Abhijeet as the new ACP, as he was the senior-most member in the squad after ACP Pradyuman. Others objected to the fact that Abhijeet and Daya will now be seen taking instructions from Parth's ACP Ayushmaan.
"Abhijeet and Daya will call him sir, stop it already! (sic)," a user commented, while another wrote, "Even if they want to kill ACP's character they should've show Abhijeet as new ACP because he is the most senior amongst them (sic)." "Abhijeet deserves a promotion! (sic)," a fan complained, while another user wrote, "Biggest ITV downfall ever (sic)."
Meanwhile, speculations are still rife that Shivaji Satam as ACP Pradyuman might return to the show after a short break as his death was not explicitly shown in the episode.
Speaking to Bombay Times, Satam said, "I have learnt to take everything in my stride and if my track is over, I am okay with it. However, I have not been told whether my track is over or not! As of now I am not shooting for the show."
Meanwhile, the makers are yet to telecast Parth's first scene as ACP Ayushmaan in CID 2.
