Actor Aamir Khan recently announced his unique pay-per-view model with which his films can now be watched on OTT. While he said that users will have to pay Rs 100 to watch the film on the YouTube channel, several users complained that the portal demanded Rs 179 for viewing his latest film, Sitaare Zameen Par, on Apple devices.
Taking cognisance of the matter, Aamir's team, in the wee hours of Friday, took to social media to address the concerns and apologise for the inconvenience. "Our sincere apologies We just became aware that the cost to rent our film Sitaare Zameen Par is reflecting as Rs 179 on Apple devices. We are trying to resolve this issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding," the statement by Aamir Khan Productions read.
For those unversed, Aamir recently announced that all his films will be released on his channel on YouTube and would not be sold to any other OTT giants like Netflix, Prime Video, Jio Hotstar, and others. The movies will be available for a mere rental fee of Rs 100, and can be watched within 48 hours of hitting the play button.

The actor revealed that the move was to ensure more people go to cinema halls to watch films at a time when theatres are suffering due to the OTT boom, and to also make cinemas affordable and accessible in every nook and corner of the country.
Additionally, the actor said the channel will be opened up to young filmmakers who struggle to release their work theatrically. “If this idea works, creative voices can tell different stories breaking geographical and other barriers. This will also be a great opportunity for younger creative people entering the field of cinema,” he said.
Aamir also revealed that his widely-watched television series Satyamev Jayate will be uploaded on the platform free of cost, but later.
